Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults training (formerly known as POVA training) is designed to prevent abuse and neglect, and promote good practice when statutory agencies are involved in the care and support of particularly vulnerable adults.
If you work for a statutory agency (NHS, local authorities, emergency services, and social care) you may well come into contact with vulnerable adults as a natural part of your work. As a public sector employee you have a duty of care towards vulnerable adults.
Statutory sector staff should receive training in how to recognise the signs of abuse, and feel equipped to respond if they suspect, or are told about, instances abuse or neglect.
McCrudden Training’s Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults training course covers:
- policies and legislation that relate to safeguarding adults
- what is abuse? definitions and safeguarding terminology
- points of vulnerability in health and social care settings
- types and patterns of abuse along with their indicators
- signs of abuse and types of abuser
- what to do if you suspect vulnerable adults are being abused in health/social care settings
Our Safeguarding training is a 3 hour workshop and can be delivered at a time to suit you.
Who is this course for?
McCrudden Training’s Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults training course is suitable for those working in the emergency services, health or adult social care settings, including residential and nursing care and local authority staff, who are responsible for recognising and protecting vulnerable adults from abuse.
Our safeguarding training is relevant to any staff member who has, or likely to have, regular contact with vulnerable adults. The course assumes no prior knowledge of the subject, so is ideal if you are new to working with vulnerable groups, or would like to refresh or up-date your previous POVA training.
Benefits of attending
Our Safeguarding training will help you to understand and recognise abuse. The vulnerable adults training course is mapped to national policy including the “No Secrets” guidance.
Throughout your training course McCrudden Training will incorporate scenarios and examples that reflect the kinds of situations you may face in your particular role.
“The training was pitched at exactly the right level, both information wise and presentation wise.”
