Introduction to Project Management
Research has suggested that between 33% and 67% of IT projects fail (are not delivered on time, are over budget, or don’t achieve their aims).
There’s no reason to believe that under performance in other business or public and voluntary sector projects wouldn’t be similar to those in IT. So, making sure you understand project management principles and techniques is vital!
Our one day workshop in Project Management helps you understand the terminology, theories and practical skills behind good project management. It introduces the difference between project and programme management and defines the life cycle of a project along with the three dimensions of all projects.
Using practical examples you will develop an understanding of Project Initiation Documents (or Project Plan), and effective monitoring and reporting procedures.
McCrudden Training’s Introduction to Project Management course is ideal for anyone little or no experience of project management and those who have been delivering projects for a while without any formal training. The day is delivered by an experienced project manager who has managed projects in the commercial, voluntary and statutory sectors and includes:
- the lifecycle and core elements of all projects;
- the terminology and documentation that goes alongside well managed projects;
- identifying project aims and objectives informed by identified need;
- developing a project plan that includes budgets, resources, and stakeholders;
- avoiding project failure by monitoring;
- being part of a project team;
- identifying risks and using common problem solving techniques for issues; and
- evaluating a completed project against agreed outputs and outcomes.
