Organisations that have regular and direct contact with children are usually aware that their staff (and any volunteers) should understand about Safeguarding.  But even those organisations focused on general community activities, and providing services for older people have a role to play in protecting children.  For example, organisations working with older people may come into contact with grandchildren, children may join parents at groups aimed primarily at adults, or a member of your organisation might express concerns about the safety of a child they know.

Our Safeguarding Children workshop is suitable for anyone within your organisation not just the nominated ‘safeguarding officer’.   As an Introduction to Safeguarding it is ideal for those who are new to safeguarding, those who have not received formal training in the topic, and those who simply want to refresh existing skills and knowledge.

This one-day workshop is follows guidelines set out in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2006) and covers:

• what safeguarding means in relation to your organisation;
• the key principles of safeguarding law and the factors that make children vulnerable to abuse;
• types of abuse and common triggers for abusers;
• roles and responsibilities for all individuals in your organisation;
• correct procedure where child abuse is suspected or disclosed; and
• safeguarding paperwork – policies and record keeping.
