Date for Volunteer Managers Conference Announced
The date for the return of the popular South East Regional Volunteer Managers Conference has been announced, and this year it’s being supported by Albion in the Community, and will be held at the Amex Stadium in Falmer.
The 3rd regional Volunteer Managers Conference falls at the end of year packed full of events that couldn’t have existed without the support of volunteers. “Managing a workforce of unpaid volunteers requires a unique set of skills”, says conference organiser Nicky McCrudden, “a volunteer’s relationship with the organisation they volunteer with is not grounded in any form of contract, so if you manage volunteers you need to know how to manage and motivate a team of people who have no obligation to turn up” she adds.
Despite the role including all the requirements of other managerial posts, high quality training for volunteer managers is often hard to find. Since 2008 the Volunteer Managers Conference has been a key part of addressing that training gap. As well as excellent networking opportunities for not-for-profit groups across the South East, the event offers a series of hot topic training workshops for both paid and unpaid volunteer managers. With the economic climate affecting all sectors, this year McCrudden Training has chosen to theme the conference on Bridge Building between the private and voluntary sectors.
